Withdrawal

Perhaps true withdrawal consists in slowly lying down on the ground, without warning, without a word, without even saying “I give up.”

I am interested in capturing that moment when some people, more or less consciously, begin to sink, to stretch out, to let themselves fall, as if to say: I withdraw. Carry on without me.

Of course, at the moment of the fall, there would be attempts to help. Hands reaching out. Efforts to lift them up, to bring them back, to set them once again on the path.

Fall in the street, and someone will help you up.
Faint, and someone will come to your aid.
Lie down on the ground, and people will simply walk around you.
